Dennis Wallace, CEO of TriCounty Telecom

Along with my photo, I have a photo of one of my toys.  I also have a 1987 Silverado that my son and I are fixing up.  I love cars, trucks and motorcycles.  I have had 133 vehicles, starting when I was 15 years old.  I just recently traded my 2005 Silverado Crew Cab and a 2006 Chevy HHR for my new Suburban, which I enjoy very much.  It is my fourth Suburban.

Hi!  I’m Dennis Wallace,   I live in a small town called Pantego, North Carolina.  I am CEO of  Tri-County Telephone Membership Corporation in Belhaven, NC.  Our trade name is TriCounty Telecom.  We provide local telephone service and have been doing so for over 50 years.  We also provide Cable TV, paging, Internet (both dial-up and broadband), long distance service and web hosting and design.  Check out our corporate web site www.gotricounty.biz and see what services we have to offer.  Also, check out our community portal www.gotricounty.com and learn about our community, plus local and national news and information.  You can even find out who was arrested in our area today by clicking on Law Enforcement on our portal.

I have been in the telecommunications business for over 34 years and I am trying to keep up with all the changes in our industry, such as Internet.  It’s a very interesting business to be in right now.

I love riding motorcycles.  Right now, I am in between bikes.  I’m not sure what bike I will get next.  I just sold my 2005 Honda Gold Wing, but I am always looking for another one.  I travel frequently in my work, so I like to ride bikes to meetings when I can.  I have ridden to Asheville, NC,  Myrtle Beach, SC, Lexington, KY, Providence, RI, Washington, DC, and Key West, FL and many other places in between.  I also rode in the “Ride for Kids” for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation several times and raised over $10,000 for that great organization through the help of many of my friends.  I rode in the “Rolling Thunder Ride” in Washington, DC several years ago on Memorial Day.  The parade consisted of over 250,000 bikes as we rode from the Pentagon to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

I also like auto racing, particularly NASCAR.  I’m still a die-hard Dale Earnhardt fan, but now I’m pulling for Dale, Jr.  I met Dale, Sr. 2 years before he died.  What a great guy.  I also met his car owner, Richard Childress, and I recently visited his new winery near Lexington, NC.  It is quite a showplace.  They have a retail store and a café where you can have lunch.  They also have tours of the winery.  Just recently, I toured Dale Earnhardt, Inc. and had lunch in the Trophy Room.  It was as nice as any restaurant I have ever eaten in.  Everything is first class.  The whole race shop is quite an experience.

I enjoy the people I meet in my work.  A friend, Joe Rhyne, started calling me Doctor D a few years ago and it stuck.  So you can call me Doctor D and e-mail me at dennisw@gotricounty.com.
